Krause’s Chocolates in New Paltz.
We went to New Paltz yesterday with every intention of hiking. We stopped to get lunch first.
New Paltz was packed! College kids are back.
I hopped out of the car with Cooper while Sean looked for parking. He dropped me off on Main Street, right in front of a farmers market.
As I looked at all the farm fresh produce, I kept passing people with this funny looking chocolate on a stick. I stopped and asked someone what it was.
It was chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick from Krause’s chocolate.
I’ve been to Krause’s in Saugerties but had no idea they have three shops. They are in New Paltz, Saugerties and Rhinebeck.
All their chocolates are handmade. They’ve been making chocolates since 1929. I bought some milk chocolate almond bark and chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels. I nearly bought one of everything. They have chocolate molds of so many things. One being a chocolate iPhone.
It was the frozen chocolate dipped cheesecake that lured me in. They also have frozen bananas. It was a tough choice. I had a grapefruit for breakfast that morning so I convinced myself I earned the cheesecake. Terrible logic.
If you’re looking for a gift of hand dipped chocolates, Krause’s is the place. You can get an assortment of 12 pieces for $8 and change.
“They offer over 50 varieties of hand-made chocolates and candy treats, including decadent truffles, luxurious caramels, melt-in-your-mouth peanut brittle, chocolate creams, chocolate-dipped fruit, chocolate peanut butter cups, chocolate nut clusters.”
If you just need a decadent fix, try the chocolate dipped cheesecake. It was worth every calorie.
