Sloop Brewery.

I have to admit, my husband Sean is really good at finding the latest must see spot.

Saturday he said “lets get out of the house and check out Sloop brewery.”

Adam, one of the creators, worked with me at Darbys Irish pub years ago. I also booked them on a radio segment I created on K104 called, “Taste of the Hudson Valley.” I’d find a local entrepreneur that created a product that we could taste and talk about on the air. Sloop had one of the best back stories. Building from the ground up. I had no idea they opened a brand new 25,000 square foot facility in East Fishkill’s former IBM plant.

I was worried that we would look like bad parents bringing Michael with us. I was going to be the DD but wasn’t sure how it’d look. Well was I wrong. There seemed to be more kids than adults. It was AWESOME!!

One of the things that Sean and I enjoy together is food and drinks! We love farm markets, new restaurants and festivals. I wasn’t sure how much of that we could do after the baby. Turns out, the more we take him around town the more outgoing he’s becoming. Later that night I saw a twitter thread from someone who said kids should not be aloud in breweries. Come on!! It’s not rowdy at all. Some places even allow dogs. I appreciate the fact that Sloop is encouraging people to talk, play games and interact. We need more of that. Parents shouldn’t have to hide away.

They had board games, arcades and family friendly food.

The food was fantastic. They had a peanut butter bacon burger. It was BOMB! Sean was so against it. Once he tried it he was blown away by how good it was. They have a brick oven for the pizza. It was the perfect size for a group to share.

Now for the beers!!! Sean was loving the “Green Islands tropical IPA.”

I took a sip of the “No pumpkin IPA” and it was delish. I’m not really into IPA’s but this one was my speed. One thing I love are their cans. So colorful.

In all, sloop brewery has a kitchen, tasting room, food, great beer, free play arcade games, and a private event space just waiting to host your next party. Check them out here for more. http://www.sloopbrewing.com/

They are open:

Thursday 4-9pm

Friday 4-10pm

We had the best afternoon. We laughed with friends. Such a great vibe at Sloop. We’ll definitely be back soon!
