Cocktail hour.

After we rented Mills Mansion we had to find the spot for the cocktail hour. There is already a designated area for the ceremony.

Our first thought was to do it on the porch of the mansion. It’d didn’t seem to have enough space for the amount of people we had.

Sean had memories of walking near a boat house on the Hudson, as a kid. We peeked inside the windows and it was filled with dust. The doors were chained shut so we couldn’t get in. We asked the property manager if we could use it. She got us approval. The next step was to meet with the caterer on sight.

“Gourmet to Go” catered our entire day. http://www.gourmettogony.com/weddings.php

I worked many weddings with Lola’s catering. They were triple booked that weekend. Eddie Kowalski, the owner of Lola’s referred Billy from “Gourmet to Go.” I’m forever grateful that he did. They knocked it out of the Park.

I had several meetings with Billy from GTG. He worked out the perfect menu. I wanted the passed o’dourves to be comfort food. The BLT was in memory of my Pops who used to make the best BLT sandwich. Here’s the menu for the cocktail hour.

Billy could not have been more accessible and accomodating. He was with us every step of the way. He took our ideas and made them better. He was in constant communication.

He introduced me to his right hand woman Patty!! Patty is a superwoman. She did several site visits with us. The day before the wedding she met me and we were moving tables near the cottage.

That’s where Joanna from “North Country Vintage rentals” came in. Look what she did with the inside of the cottage. Patty and Joanna cleared the space out and made it magical.

I had to rent two golf carts to shuffle people from the top of the hill to the water for the cocktail hour. I rented them from Golf car Annie! We worked together during our Hurricane Sandy relief effort with K104. She’s the best. You can email her at associatesgcr@aol.com

Joanna gave us a great idea to hang an old picture frame and use it as an antique photo booth.

She also suggested an old suitcase to hold the props.

Patty had shudders she brought from home to put the place cards on. My Mom hand wrote each name. Mom also bought a bunch of candle lamps to place up the stairs to the reception.

Now it’s time for the party!!!

Thank you for follow along with our special day. I can’t wait to share the special details of the reception. So much to share.

ANNIE xoxo
