Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m truly living in Hells Kitchen. I love it so much. This is my third year here. The most exciting thing is the speed at which new places open each month. I was walking home down 8th when I spotted the construction of a new venetian looking spot. Turned out to be a Gelato place called, “Amorino.” I made a mental note and decided to wait for warmer days. Well here we are. June is in full swing. I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner. They are located on 8th between 45th & 46th. There are three other locations in NYC. They are also located worldwide. http://www.amorino.com
According to their website they were, “Created in 2002 by two childhood friends, Cristiano Sereni and Paolo Benassi, Amorino was born in the heart of Paris on Ile St Louis.”
They serve coffee, tea, gelato, macaroons, waffles and crepes.
I knew I wanted to try a macaroon. Why not put the macaroon on the gelato?
Fellas if you want to surprise your lady, this is the place. They shape the gelato to look like a flower. Double win. Ice cream and a rose. All you have to do is pick the flavors that you want to layer.
I started with some chocolate, dulce de leche and vanilla chocolate chip gelato.
Then I added some pistachio and speculoos flavor.
Lastly it was topped with a Vanilla bourbon madagascar macaroon.
VOILA!!!
Creamy, subtly sweet and a true show stopper. I had people smile and stare at it as I walked through the theatre district. An edible piece of art. Enjoy!
XOXO, ANNIE
